Chapter Ten

The morning light flooded the bedroom, and the alarm cut into Bernadette’s deep sleep. The endorphins from the night of lovemaking had seen to that. She opened her eyes and found herself spooned up with Eve. She was holding Eve tight and her fiancée stirred. Eve rolled over to face Bernadette.

“Hello, beautiful.”

“You’re beautiful, the most beautiful girl I know.”

“Thank you.” Eve kissed her lightly.

“Last night…”

“Yes?”

“It was wonderful, so horny, and fun.”

“Good.”

They lay tenderly holding each other for a few moments longer, each unwilling to be the one to get up. In the end, Bernadette sighed and said she had to. She went for a shower, while Eve put on her robe and went downstairs to make breakfast. Before doing so, she laid out an outfit for her fiancée and Bernadette smiled to see a peach trouser suit with three quarter length trousers, and a cream blouse with a collar on the bed. There was also a pair of light pink high heeled sandals with one pink toe strap and a mid-strap. She particularly liked this pair, one of many which she possessed. They shared clothes and shoes being about the same size. Bernadette put on her makeup and brushed her hair. Eve would no doubt style it when Bernadette got downstairs. She got dressed and headed for the kitchen.

The familiar smells assailed her as she sat down at the counter. A plate of scrambled eggs and bacon was placed in front of her, with a cup of coffee. Eve stood behind her and plaited her hair into a single plait down the back, while Bernadette sipped her coffee. She let Eve do what she wanted, because she loved her and she simply loved being looked after. Bernadette felt adored, and in a way which was so nurturing she wanted to bask in it forever. She hoped she adored Eve in the same measure.

“Stop worrying,” said Eve, reading her thoughts and taking a seat next to her, “You do so much for me, I know you love me.”

“How do you do it?” Bernadette smiled, taking a forkful of eggs.

“Read your mind? Because I’m a witch.”

They both laughed. This playful banter held a deeper meaning. Bernadette reflected, yet again, somehow Eve seemed to possess almost magical powers, and she mused at times if their little private joke was really true. Eve was quite uncanny in her ability to be so perspicacious. At the same time, she radiated an aura of calm affecting those around her, except when she was angry or upset herself.

“I am… you should be used to it by now,” Eve continued.

“Oh you!” Bernadette turned her attention to her breakfast.

“What’s your plan today?” Eve said with interest. Bernadette had filled her in on the news over dinner. Eve now knew their secret strategy, but Eve would never tell.

“We’re going to see Natasha. We need to understand a bit more about her. She sounds as though she is very jealous of Emily’s boyfriends. We may not bring that up to her though.
